Tell me what the majority of these "resolutions" have to do with religion and their own church? This to me looks much more like a political manifesto than it does the notes from a church meeting. I've said it before and I'll say it again - Christian Fundamentalists are EVIL, EVIL, EVIL people and it's clear that their agenda is to take over the world until everyone either thinks like they do or is eliminated. Sound familiar? Yeah, it should, because Hitler tried the same thing. These people need to be stopped before it's too late!
Take a look at the resolutions here.

I don't think these views are exclusive to Southern Baptists. Many churches have become nothing more than political lobbyists in sheep's clothing. And they get to do it all tax free.

This is an organization trying to keep their beliefs and values from being destroyed. I'm not southern Baptist, but I don't see what the big deal is with an organization standing up for what they believe in. What about the rest of the world, the rest of the orgs that have goals and try to push their agendas? Are they wrong as well or just those that are religion based?

The problem / difference is our Constitution guarantees us a separation of church and state. The line is getting more and more blurred. Let's not return to what we escaped. Look at current governments run by church ideology.

But no one is threatening their church. They can believe what they want to believe and practice what they want to believe all day long. The problem I have with them is that they are trying to organize an effort to take over government, public education, etc. to change the way ALL of us live and convince us to believe what they believe.

See, I beg to differ there. ::Threatening the church:: The church is founded on the belief that: Marriage between a man and woman, core family values. Resolution #1
God created the heavens and the earth. Resolution #10
That's just two they are feeling threatened by.
This country was founded on freedom of religion, so it's kind of hard to expect them to sit back and watch the country watering itself down, which is what seems to be happening. This org has been in business since 1854 according to their "about page". So they've not taken over the world yet, they've not brainwashed you into believing they are right, they're just trying to push their agenda like every other org out there.

Exactly. So, if my religion allows the marriage between members of the same sex, am I to follow their religion instead?

Thank you! Now if we could only convince the government of that.

That ain't gonna happen, and we ALL know that! Too many opinions, too many biases, too many people in the government, too many agendas! Along with everyone feels their opinions are the right ones? It just ain't gonna happen!

The constitution guarantees only that our government will not establish a state religion as was extant in England at the time the constitution was penned.
The constitution does not prohibit people with spiritually based views from participating in government institutions and trying to influence those institituions.

And like any Constitutional right, this act also comes with responsibilities...
Such as knowing when said activities clash with the IRC and the regulations of 501(c)3...
But then again, Jerry Falwell already has experience in that area...

You're right, but as long as the manifestations of their influence have a religious purpose, favor one religion over another, or excessively "entangle" the government and religion the esatblishment clause of the Constitution has been violated.

No, this is an organization trying to force their philosophy on the rest of a country via the legal system.

If the Southern Baptist Convention continues to behave like a political party then this country will risk being on the verge of religious warfare. It will not be between the religious and non-religious, it wil be between religious dogmas. The people will suffer in the end as they have in all such religious wars (see the Calvanists and Huguenots for examples). Christianity is a violent religion, especially when it attempts to force its dogma and doctrine on people.

The slaughter in Ruwanda was not between groups with different religions, but between tribes competing for power.

From Resolution 10 on education,
"WHEREAS, In December 2005, a federal judge ruled in favor of government schools indoctrinating children with dogmatic Darwinism (Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District), which radically influences their view of origins; and…"
Let's keep our children ignorant of modern science while we brainwash them with church doctrine.

Christianity is not a violent religion, which is not to say that there have not been people calling themselves Christian acting in very un-Christian ways. And don't worry too much about Southern Baptists. They as a denomination are imploding and will spend too much time destroying each other to have much secular influence.
