I need to get a puppy in for shots and neutering. I've called around and the least expensive vet is $350.00. There has to be someplace around that won't take everything I've got. Can anyone suggest a good, in expensive vet??

Dr. Caggiano at Ferry Farm Animal Hospital is outstanding!!! I love her. And $350 for all their shots and neuturing isn't too bad. My $10 shelter kitty cost me about that.

Caroline Animal hospital is the cheapest I know of. For neutering, I took my animals to the spay clinic. Just a few weeks ago the counties sponsored shot clinics. They do them every spring and fall. Just something else to keep in mind.

I agree! Ferry Farms is the best vet around! I have been going there for over 30 years! Well, at least as long as I can remember. I am 39 now and we took our animals there when I was a child. The number is 540-371-5090. Wish you the best of luck!

I also recommend the Kincheloe Clinic for spaying or neutering. I just had a female puppy done at the end of April. She weighed 54 lbs and the cost was $70 or $80. If the dog weighs less than 50 lbs I think the cost is only $50 or $60. As someone else on another thread already discovered, they don't spay or neuter dogs over 100 lbs.
The only shot they asked the puppy to have prior to her appointment was Bordetella (Kennel Cough), which she did since she was already fully vaccinated. I'm not sure if the dogs' rabies shots cost more than cats, but the cats shots used to cost $10 or $12.

Just an FYI, but I just tried to call Kincheloe and their number has changed. The new number is 540-507-7461.

They have a long one for dogs, but not so much for cats. I called yesterday because I have a kitten that will need to get neutered in about two months.
Since I had to wait about 6-8 weeks to get a female rottie spayed, I wasn't sure if they had gotten so popular and had a long wait for both cats and dogs. I got a call back a few hours later (not usually the norm) and was told that for cats they don't usually make appointments that far out. Turns out that because they can do more cats in one day than dogs, the wait's not as long (maybe a week).

Like MsH said, the wait's longer for dogs. When I got my call back yesterday, the woman mentioned that the next available dog spay/neuter appts are in mid-to-late July. Since your dog's already four months, if you want to get him neutered sooner rather than later, you may want to call now for your appointment.
