There has been a little confusion recently about what is allowed and what isn't in the FUG events forum. So here's the breakdown:
What's OK:
- Posting about FUG gatherings at bars, restaurants, coffee houses, or other places where people tend to gather.
- Posting about bands playing where FUGgers will gather.
- Posting about FUG gatherings at FUGgers' residences (such as picnics, BBQs, etc.)
- Posting info on FUG outings (daytrips, hikes, sailboat races, etc.)
- Posting info about non-profit events (food drive, etc) where FUGgers will be.
What's NOT ok:
- Yard Sale posts are strictly forbidden*. That's what the classifieds are for.
- Any type of commercial solicitation or advertisement is not allowed.
- Any type of sales or for-profit meeting (AmWay, Primerica, so-called "business opportunity" seminars, etc.)
- Any type of meeting or gathering where the principal purpose is to sell stuff. Including, but not limited to: Tupperware, Pampered Chef, Candle parties, Sex-toy parties, Mary Kay, Avon, etc.
- * there is one possible exception to the "no yard sale" rule: Posts about yard sales which benefit non-profit organizations (churches, 4-H, Scouts, etc) will be allowed in the charities forum, but not in the FUG events forum.
I hope this clears up some of the confusion. As always, I am available via PM to answer any questions. Also, feel free to post responses here.

The overwhelming majority of you guys seem to understand what we're striving for. But for those still in need of clarification, here's one last note from the admins:
The following guidelines will be used by the Admins to decide what constitutes a commercial solicitation. There's a lot of gray area, so each post will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis, and we'll do the best we can.
1. No more fliers. Don't post 'em because they'll be deleted.
2. Promoters and club owners will not be allowed to use FredTalk as a free advertising tool. Bands can still post, but we will be more aggressive about what we consider "commercial solicitation." Generally, you can post if you are going to a show, or if you are in a band that will be
performing, or if you're going to see your friend's band perform.
- "My band's playing tonight at Fatty J's. You should come see us."
- Or: "Hey, I'm going to see CNR perform tonight at the Bourbon Room, who wants to meet me there?"
- Or: "Hey, 816 and The Rolling Stones are playing tonight at KCs, let's make it a FUG event!"
What's NOT OK:
-"RockMusicCompany presents: A night of hard-core rock&roll!!!! 3 bands at KC's!! Come all to this awesome show!!"
-Or: "Duff Beer presents the 2nd Annual Battle of the Bands All-you-can-eat Shrimp & Bikini Contest Party at Colonial Tavern!!!"

We'd have to give out a lot of free beer so we can convince everyone the band on stage is really the Stones.

Just the thought of men that age bouncing around stage is kinda nauseating to me - don't think I could hold down a beer.
