I posted this in the Open Forum last week, but wanted to see if perhaps someone in this forum might have some experience with packaging ammunition.
Any of you use one of these gadgets? They seem to come in a variety of sizes, prices and capabilities. Any recommendations for brands, stores etc?
I was also wondering if any of you hunters/shooters/survivalists have tried one to package ammunition for long term storage.

Yes, thank you. I do take issue with that poster re his comment that commercial and military ammo is the same. That simply is not true. The calibers--5.56mm = .223, and 7.62mm = .308-- are the same, but commercial ammo is not the same mil spec.
Springfield Armory specifically warns you to shoot only mil spec and not shoot commercial .308 ammo in their M1A1 rifles. 7.62 NATO, I discovered, has slightly thicker casings and the headspace is slightly different, among other things. You can buy US-made mil spec ammo on the commercial market. You are not limited to foreign surplus. Winchester makes ammo that is labeled "7.62mm", and it has the NATO proof mark on the bottom of the casing, not "308 Winchester". If you google "7.62 nato mil spec" you will get hits for vendors who sell it as .308, so you have to know what the box looks like. I'll edit this later with some pics.
If Winchester makes this ammo, they probably make a 5.56mm mil spec as well, but I'm not familiar with it.

Ugh, I may not be able to make good on the pics. I don't know how to get my camera to shoot a pic that's 100Kb or less....
Quantico Tactical sometimes has this ammo. They offer a good discount for active/retired military & law enforcement in general, and volume discounts on ammo.
