When you do this, be sure that your contractor understands the zoning regulations for Fredericksburg. I applied for a building variance on my property once (had nothing to do with a fence), but there was a person there who applied after the fact for a variance because they had paid a contractor to install a fence on their property, and the contractor had never applied for a permit or followed the zoning regs, and the board showed her no sympathy and forced her to tear her brand new fence down.

Thanks Matt, so I guess I will need to get a receipt to show that the person who puts in the fence applied for the permit. Seems like there is always something to learn, thanks again.
